Imperial Golf Club’s John Lee shot a 6-under-par 66 and has the first-round lead at the South Florida PGA Professional Championship at Fiddlesticks in Fort Myers.
J.D. Murray of Cedar Hammock, and Derek Niszczak of The Golf and Racquet Country Club are one stroke back.
The tournament, which wraps up today, serves as a qualifier for the 43rd annual PGA Professional National Championship in June 2010 at French Lick Resort in Indiana.
The SFPGA Section was awarded 11 qualifying spots, plus one for Lee Rinker of Jupiter, who is exempt from qualifying.
Brian Lee of Loxahatchee Club is fourth after a 68. Mark Doss of Gulf Harbour, Ryan Garrity of Dye Preserve, and Chris Czaja of Boca West Club are tied for fifth with 69s. Andy Zullo of Shadow Wood is tied for eighth after a 70.
Gene Fieger of Hideout, Dennis Meyer of Dennis Meyer’s Golf School, Jared Blocker of Pelican Bay, and Bob Byrnes of Mediterra are part of an 11-way tie for 10th.(source: naples news 9-29-09)
